Green Lake State Park is a beautiful park that is surrounded by upland forest. Both Round and Green Lakes are meromictic lakes, this means that no fall and spring mixing happens in the surface and bottom waters. These types of lakes have a high potential for ancient plants as well as animal life. The park is also a part of the 18-hole golf course which was designed by Robert Trent Jones. Visitors can snowshoe in the winter and there are 15 miles of trails in which cross country skiers use.
The Green and Round Lakes are very sensitive and because of this, there are no outside/private boats, kayaks, or canoes are permitted. The park does, however, have a Hippocampe Beach/All-terrain wheelchair is available for guests to use thanks to a grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The wheelchair is available at no charge on a first-come, first-serve basis from 11 am-7 pm.
The park does have a pet policy. There is a maximum of two pets allowed in campsites and must be on a leash at all times. Pets are not allowed in the playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools, and a spray ground.
